Adrien Brody reportedly still giving post-Oscar speech alone backstage

Adrien Brody seen backstage at Dolby Theatre in LA, still apparently delivering his almost-yearlong Oscars acceptance speech from the previous year, as production staff attempts to setup for this year’s ceremony next month.

LOS ANGELES—As organizers prepare for this year’s Oscars ceremony in March, host Connon O’Brien told Thirsty Thespian reporters that when he arrived for initial rehearsals, famous, two-time Oscar-winning actor, Adrien Brody, was still dressed in his outfit from the previous year’s ceremony, wielding his gold trophy and apparently still delivering his Oscars speech backstage alone, in a mostly empty theater, 11 months after he had started the controversially long speech that resulted in many other winners having to cut their own speeches considerably short.

“I tried to confront him, say, ‘Hey Adrien, buddy, what are you still doing here?'” O’Brien recapped. “But he cut me off, said, ‘I’ll get to you in a minute, you Irish giant,’ which I personally thought was a bit cruel. He told me he still had ‘a few more people’ he wanted to thank. He also said: ‘I swear. I’ll make it short.’”

At press time, Brody apparently did finish his speech, now holding the record for the longest Oscar acceptance speech, with only some facilities staff aware that the speech (originally recorded at five minutes and 36-seconds) had actually continued backstage, lasting a full 11 months. Brody added that, while he didn’t have any film roles eligible for next month’s ceremony, he’s hopeful that his upcoming work as Charles V – the Emperor in the upcoming 2027 film, Emperor, just might win him his third stately statuette. “Look, I don’t want to go anther 22 years and 2 days to win my next Oscar.” He continued, telling us when he wins in 2027, he plans to beat his own Oscars speech record and “go for a solid year.”

  1. […] LOS ANGELES, CA–Controversial actor Adrien Brody, who is known for giving long, meandering awards acceptance speeches that never seem to arrive at their point on time, was seen by nosy neighbors Saturday morning grunting in his living room while curling his two Oscar trophies – one the actor earned in 2003 for Best Actor in a Leading Role for the Pianist, the other in 2025 for Best Actor in a Leading Role in The Brutalist. The storied actor watched playback of his Oscars speeches on his flatscreen TV – the first running for 3 minutes, 30 seconds, and the second running for 5 minutes, 40 seconds1 – to apparently assess and strengthen both his physical and verbal endurance, while clutching his two 8.5 pound Oscar trophies and reportedly doing spirited bicep curls in a gray moisture-wicking workout shirt that was darkened and dampened in pools of sweat. “You can do better than that, Adrien, stay in the game,” he was heard shouting. “If the Australian bicycle kicking kangaroo can go for the gold only to come up short, you can go for longest speech on record,” Brody was heard pep-talking himself, as he prepared for his next record-breaking speech, which he had prophesied would last one full year.
